SUMMARY:Clinton County History Center - Shutter Celebration & Ribbon Cutting
DESCRIPTION:The Clinton County History Center invites the community to celebrate another significant milestone in historic preservation with a special Shutter Celebration and Donor Appreciation Ribbon Cutting on Saturday\, November 14\, 2026\, at 10:00 a.m. at Rombach Place\, located at 149 E. Locust Street in Wilmington.\n\nHosted in partnership with the Wilmington-Clinton County Chamber of Commerce\, the celebration will recognize the generous donors and supporters who made possible the successful restoration and installation of all 24 historically accurate reproduction shutters at Rombach Place\, the historic home of the Clinton County History Center.\n\nThe recently completed shutter project represents an investment of nearly $20\,000 in the preservation of the historic property. Alongside exterior stucco restoration\, these improvements represent nearly $95\,000 in preservation efforts dedicated to protecting and enhancing one of Wilmington's historic architectural landmarks.\n\nRecent preservation efforts have been made possible through strong community and governmental partnerships\, including support from the Clinton County Commissioners and State Senator Kyle Koehler. Working collaboratively\, the History Center secured public funding to help complete approximately $75\,000 in exterior stucco repairs\, including $50\,000 through Ohio's One-Time Strategic Community Investment Fund. These investments\, combined with generous private donations\, continue to support the preservation and long-term care of one of Clinton County's treasured historic landmarks.\n\nThe November 14 celebration will feature an official ribbon cutting with the Chamber of Commerce\, recognition of project donors and supporters\, and an opportunity to admire the completed exterior improvements. Complimentary breakfast items and beverages\, including a mimosa bar\, will be served for attendees.\n\n"This project would not have been possible without the incredible generosity of our donors and supporters who recognize the importance of preserving Clinton County's architectural heritage\," said Shelby Boatman-McKay\, Executive Director of the Clinton County History Center. "These shutters are more than decorative features. They are an important part of maintaining the historic character of Rombach Place\, and we are grateful to everyone who helped bring this project to completion."\n\nFollowing the morning celebration\, guests are encouraged to remain at the History Center for its monthly Second Saturday educational program\, featuring researcher Linda Rinehart. Her presentation will explore Clinton County's Revolutionary War veterans\, highlighting the individuals whose service during America's fight for independence helped shape our nation's history and whose legacies remain connected to Clinton County.\n\nFor additional information\, contact the Clinton County History Center at 937-382-4684.
