DESCRIPTION:The Wilmington College Peace Resource Center and Harcum Gallery are pleased to announce the exhibition\, "Kita Kazuaki (1934-2012): Ceramics for the Nuclear Age\," August 6-October 11\, 2024 (M-F: 9-5 p.m.)\, Harcum Gallery\, Boyd Cultural Arts Center\, Wilmington College. \n\n			A public exhibition opening will take place in the Wilmington College Harcum Gallery on Tuesday\, October 1\, 2024 from 5-7 p.m. \n\n			\n\n			Kita Kazuaki (1934-2012) was a Japanese ceramicist from Nagano prefecture\, Japan whose wartime experiences later led him to reject nuclear weapons and military violence. \n\n			\n\n			From 1982-1986\, prominent nuclear disarmament and peace activist Milton Lowenthal coordinated a N. American tour of Kita's anti-nuclear ceramics. In 2023\, Lowenthal's daughters\, Ms. Hara Bouganim and Ms. Linda Lipschutz\, donated a collection of 19 of Kita's works to the Peace Resource Center in honor of their father and his continual efforts toward global peace.
