The Clinton County Trails Coalition is celebrating 30 years of dedication to developing, maintaining, and promoting recreational trails throughout Clinton County. To commemorate this milestone and the community’s progress over the past three decades, the Coalition will host a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Friday, October 17, at 10:00 a.m. at the Mulberry Street Trailhead, located next to Wheelies on Mulberry and Trail Haus in Wilmington.
The event will honor 30 years of trail planning and progress, including the Luther Warren Peace Path, which officially opened in 1999 and connects Mulberry Street to Nelson Avenue. Community members, local leaders, and trail supporters are invited to join in celebrating this momentous occasion.
Formed in 1994, the Clinton County Trails Coalition is a volunteer-led organization dedicated to building and enhancing recreational trails that promote outdoor activity, community connection, and appreciation for the natural beauty of the region. Over the years, the Coalition has played a key role in the creation of several local trails, including the Luther Warren Peace Path, Lowes Drive Trail, 4-C Bicentennial Trail, Judy Gano Trail, Clinton–Fayette Friendship Trail, and most recently, the Elizabeth J. Looney Trail.
“The past 30 years have been a testament to what community collaboration and persistence can achieve,” said Bruce Saunders, Chairman of the Clinton County Trails Coalition. “We’re proud of the progress made so far and excited for what lies ahead as we continue connecting people and places through trails.”
Looking forward, the Coalition is focused on expanding the local trail network and strengthening connections with regional systems, including plans to extend the trail from Wilmington to the Little Miami Scenic Trail in Morrow.
The public is encouraged to attend the October 17th ceremony to celebrate the Coalition’s achievements, learn about future plans, and enjoy the trails that have been made possible through decades of community effort.
