Join us for an easy 1.5-mile hike along the Dogwood Trail at Cowan Lake State Park Nature Center on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 2:00 PM. During the hike, you will learn about the breeding habits of various common species at Cowan, including bald eagles, spotted salamanders, rabbits, and more.
Feel free to bring along anyone special to you, whether it's your spouse, siblings, parents, relatives, friends, or even your furry friends. However, if you prefer to enjoy some alone time, bring only yourself.
Before and after the hike, don't forget to visit the Environmental Education Center (EEC) next to the Nature Center. Friends Caring for Cowan Lake will be hosting a Valentine-themed decoration event where you can enjoy hot beverages and homemade sweet treats for a donation. The EEC will open at 1:00 PM, so you can stop by before the hike.
Also, make sure to stop by the Nature Center Complex for a Maple Syrup Tasting Event. You can watch as sap boils into Cowan's own maple syrup and enjoy the rich aroma from the steaming vat. You will also have the opportunity to sample the syrup.
