The Clinton County History Center invites the public to a special three-day Civil War Weekend, commemorating our community’s role in one of the most defining periods of American history. This free event offers a unique opportunity to explore Clinton County’s Civil War connections through exhibits, living history, and original artifacts.
Featured participants include Henry Casey Camp #92, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, presenting detailed displays on Clinton County’s military contributions before, during, and after the war. Topics include the story of the Morris McMillian Post No. 58, Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) and a look at reproduction Civil War campsites on the museum’s grounds. Blanchester resident, Willard Mottsinger will display his extensive personal collection of both original and reproduction Civil War military memorabilia, offering a rare chance to view uniforms, weapons, and gear up close. In addition, the 21st Ohio Independent Battery, a Civil War reenactment group from Washington Court House, will be onsite with authentic items representing a soldier's life, providing engaging, hands-on learning for all ages. Throughout the weekend, visitors will also be invited to view the museum’s seasonal exhibit, which will be open to both the public and members during regular museum hours. Admission is free for all attendees during this special event.
Donations to support our mission are welcome during this time.
