Join the History Center for a special Second Saturday program as we reflect on the meaning of Memorial Day through the story of one of Clinton County’s fallen heroes, J.W. Denver Williams Jr.
This program will explore the life, military service, and sacrifice of Corporal Williams, a United States Marine who was killed in action during the Battle of Okinawa in May 1945 at just 22 years old. Guests will also learn how his memory continued to shape the Wilmington community for generations through memorials, tributes, and the naming of Denver Williams Park.
Coffee, light refreshments, and fellowship will be provided as part of the History Center’s ongoing Second Saturday series. Admission is free for History Center members and open to the public. All are welcome to attend as we pause to honor service, sacrifice, and remembrance.
