Purpose of Job
Provide technical support to the organization in the area of testing for current production and new model addition. Design, develop, and validate tests from complex design specifications suitable for a mass production environment that fosters high product quality and consistent cycle time. Investigate, design, purchase & validate hardware solutions to support automotive production processes (utilizing PC control boxes, digital I/O, machine vision systems, barcode readers, data acquisition devices, etc). Develop vision system tests to confirm proper electrical connections. Develop, implement and administer SQL database solutions to manage production data. Must be able to successfully communicate to and work with cross-functional teams involving multiple disciplines (Engineering, Quality, Production, Material Services, etc.).
Ability to investigate, design, purchase, and validate hardware for testing.
Ability to Understand Complex Electrical Circuit Drawings.
Ability to Develop Testing suitable for Mass Production Environment. (detection of quality issues and maintain cycle time)
Support existing equipment with current production, new model addition (wiring specifications)
Basic computer hardware knowledge.
Proficient in Microsoft office applications.
Major Duties/Responsibilities
Set up machines for new model to include building, retooling of machines, program creation, vision solution implementation.
Investigate & Develop New Methods for Testing (R&D).
Support Production & Maintenance with False Failures & Downtime on Production Test Equipment.
Facilitate necessary training.
Support existing equipment with current production and new model addition.
Set up Tests in reaction to internal or external rejects and or escapes.
Implement Design Changes as required including machine modification.
Education, Experience, Knowledge and Other Information
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Experience with setting up tests of Electrical Components in a mass production environment is preferred.
Three years of applicable work experience in automotive industry (or similar).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to work independently and with little supervision
Able to interpret, adhere to & implement applicable ISO, ANSI, NFPA 79, and NEC regulations
Ability to comprehend US Department of Transportation regulations on Vehicle Displays
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.)
Proficient in PLC programming (RSLogix 5000 preferred)
Proficient in networking, TCP/IP, OPC, etc Proficient in creating electrical drawings
Ability to interpet PLC ladder logic diagrams
Proficient in conceptualization of automated processes and converting to PLC logic
Ability to develop SQL databases, queries, etc.
Proficient in programming languages (VB, C/C++/C# etc)
Proficient in machine vision systems (Cognex VisionPro/Keyence)
Prefered Knowledge, Experience, and Education
Five years of applicable work experience in automotive industry (or similar)
ISO 13849-1 & ANSI Z244 & NFPA 79 government safety regulationsRobotics Operations / Programming Certification (Fanuc, Mitsubishi, etc.)
Work Hours
Monday-Friday, 7:30am - 4:30pm. Off-hours as needed.
Travel Requirements
25% domestic travel.
If domestic travel is necessary, valid driver's license is required.
