PUBLIC HEALTH INTERN
Part-Time/ Seasonal Intern: Up to 20 hours per week, up to a 6-month period (flexible)
Rate: $14.00-$16.00 /hour

The Clinton County Health District (CCHD) is seeking a dedicated and motivated Public Health Intern to join our team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to our mission of improving Clinton County by preventing disease, promoting health, and protecting the environment. As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience in public health initiatives and accreditation processes while working alongside a team of professionals committed to enhancing community well-being. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about public health and eager to make a meaningful impact in the community.
Job Duties:
Assist CCHD staff with the development of CCHD’s Community Annual Report, work with Performance Management Databases, and assist with the Community Health Assessment/Community Health Improvement Plan updates. Other duties could be assigned. Duties will include primary and secondary data collection, analysis, reporting, and document development. Participate in agency, and community meetings as needed. Reports directly to the Business Manager.

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicant must be working on or have an undergraduate degree in public health or a related field, including, business, marketing, nursing, environmental health, or epidemiology. Must be a self-starter and independent worker. Must have good verbal and written communication skills and strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher. Experience working with data, including the ability to identify and interpret a variety of data sources. Must have regular attendance. Staff will assist in working with the student on meeting the education requirements needed by an intern, if applicable.

Clinton County Health District offers a variety of very desirable benefits to all seasonal employees:
- Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) – All employees contribute 10% of their salary to PERS, and the agency contributes 14%. The agency estimated value based on the above salary range from $5,600 to $7,700 annually. Employees do not pay federal social security tax from income; all contributions go directly towards PERS.
- Sick Leave/ Holiday – Prorated based on the number of hours worked; Holidays – if falls on a regularly scheduled workday
- Mileage Reimbursement – CCHD provides mileage reimbursement for driven mileage at the rate set by CCHD’s Board of Health.
