TRIGGER WARNING: This is part 3 of our series on Predatory Violence. This particular session will involve blunt, open discussions of the mechanics of sexual assault and how to survive or evade these types of traumatic encounters. There will also be some physical proximity to the instructors for demonstration purposes that could be intimidating or difficult for some. If you are new to our Wasp program and/or do not wish to participate in an open discussion about the issues surrounding these types of assaults, you may want to consider waiting for our next class. As always, we will carefully guide and supervise, and help you process through what you learn.
This month’s class covers Predatory Violence. This class focuses on what to do when things become physical. It specifically focuses on the types of physical violence that occur when a predator wants to take something from you: your resources, your body, or your life. It focuses on what to do after avoidance, escape, and de-escalation have not worked.
In every violent encounter, there is a moment when you realize, "This is an assault!" This month’s class focuses on what to do from that moment on. The class will be an active participation, 4-hour, class that will involve both physical and informational components.
You may want to write down some of the information, so it may be a good idea to bring a notebook. You can wear street clothes or what you’d wear to a gym. We ask that if you are unvaccinated, you wear a mask.
