Street Department Assistant Full-time | Hourly | Non-exempt

The Village of Sabina is currently accepting resumes for the position of Street Department Assistant as part of ongoing operational planning and performance standard alignment within the Street Department. As we continue strengthening infrastructure maintenance, response times, and department efficiency, we are building a pool of qualified candidates prepared to meet the Village’s evolving service expectations.

Position Summary
Under the direction of the Street Department Supervisor, this position assists in improvements, repairs, and infrastructure projects throughout the Village. This role requires reliability, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to perform physically demanding work in all seasonal conditions.


Core Responsibilities
• Assist with street and infrastructure repairs
• Perform routine street inspections
• Sweep streets and clean catch basins
• Patch potholes and maintain road surfaces
• Repair and replace street signs
• Maintain drainage systems and culverts
• Maintain tools and equipment with documented service checks
• Support seasonal operations (mowing municipal properties, pool maintenance, holiday décor installation, etc.)
• Complete work orders in a timely and accountable manner 


Required Skills
• Demonstrated mechanical ability
• Ability to learn department tools and equipment within six months
• Strong work ethic and reliability
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Flexibility and willingness to perform seasonal duties


Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license
• Reliable transportation
• Ability to work alongside supervisors and Village employees
• Ability to complete tasks without constant supervision
